About us

music together alpine

Music Together Alpine was founded in January 2017 by Sophie Evans. It is the latest offering of the Music Together family in Switzerland. The very first class took place on Monday 3 April in Baar.

Sophie discovered her passion for Music Together after taking her own children to the program in Zurich and observing the responses they had to the classes.  She also loved the fact that she learned about music and child development alongside their learning, and was excited about the research behind the programme. As a former member of the Birmingham Conservatoire and Associate of the Royal Schools of Music in her home country of the United Kingdom, teaching seemed to be a natural fit. She is delighted to be opening her own Music Together program in Baar & Wadenswil to serve local families and invites you to join her on this new and exciting musical journey.

At Music Together Alpine we firmly believe that all children are musical and everyone has the ability to make music. Our mission is to offer all children the opportunity to benefit from music by participating in a research based, no structured and developmentally appropriate musical environment with the adults who love them.

Sophie is a British mum of two young children Samuel and Chloe and lives with her husband Adam in Thalwil. Originally from Malvern in the UK, Sophie holds a degree in Japanese from the University of Oxford and before her children came along she had a successful career working for the professional services firm KPMG in London and Lausanne, and most recently at the World Economic Forum in Geneva. She speaks fluent Japanese and French. She is a keen violinist and loves to spend time in the great Swiss outdoors with her family as well as crafting and reading when time allows! Sophie has also recently helped to launch the Swiss chapter of Driven Women – a network for women who want to achieve their goals.
